We'd like to extend a huge thank you to our friends at Love is a Verb and Impactful Ripples for reminding children in foster care that they matter. This week, Love is a Verb donated more than 100 pieces of new luggage for children placed in Montgomery County's care. Partners at Impactful Ripples also provided inspirational bracelets in each suitcase. The mission is personal for both organizations' founders. Love is a Verb's Nicole Weaver adopted a child from Children Services, and Impactful Ripples' Heather Suerdieck' father was also adopted from Children Services. Thank you again!

For nearly five years now, Omega Baptist Church has provided Suitcases of Hope for children entering foster care. Earlier this week, they dropped off another donation of 42 suitcases at Children Services. Each suitcase is filled with personal care items and encouraging notes. In emergency situations, these suitcases give children something to keep their personal belongings in, providing comfort and dignity during a traumatic experience. We're forever grateful for Omega Baptist Church's continued support! Want to learn how you can get involved or donate to help children in care? Call Children Services at 937-224-KIDS to speak with our Community Resource Liaison.

Juneteenth marks a significant moment in our nation's history - the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The Diversity Awareness Committee at Job and Family Services held a special event today, honoring their resilience, courage and the enduring fight for equality and justice. Today's event was filled with soulful music, inspiring speakers and delicious food.Let's all take time this week to celebrate our diverse community, learn from one another and enjoy the rich culture that Juneteenth represents!
