My Honest TEMU Review After Purchased 10 Items! - True Gault (2024)

I recently took a spin on the Temu Shopping App and, wow, what a ride! I had my doubts when seeing all these TEMU ads and the low prices it offers. Honestly, I was skeptical at first – how could something so affordable be any good? But I was pleasantly surprised.

As I dove into the app, I found myself lost in a world of endless options and deals that seemed too good to be true. The variety of products was astounding, and the quality, much to my surprise, didn’t disappoint. From trendy gadgets to household essentials, everything was just a few taps away. Now let’s break my TEMU shopping experience in detail!

Shopping Experience

1. APP Experience

The app itself when you first open it up seems like it’s extremely busy. I know comparing Amazon or Ali Express is busy, but this app adds another level to it. Not only is the page always moving you are inundated with pop-ups throughout the entire shopping experience.

You cannot navigate through pages without something popping up and “adding more value” or giving you a “discount”. They also allow you to refer other people within your circle and get even more of a discount. When they buy something, they get more free items, and discounts.

2. Navigation

The app does offer the ease of going into different categories by separating the categories. Still, once you are in the different sections there are so many “offers and ideas for you” that it makes it difficult to find what you are looking for. At the same time, the UI is easy enough to navigate normally like many other apps. Getting to any specific area inside of the app is not too difficult. Everything has easy access and the ability for you to find what you are looking for with not many issues.

3. The suggestions( Recommended)

After browsing for a while it seems like the algorithm suggests products based on my history too. Show it that I would be more likely to be interested in which was nice which has led me to discover some incredible items I wouldn’t have found otherwise. These recommendations are remarkably accurate and have saved me time and effort in the search for the perfect product.

4. Shipping time

So in my own shopping experience. I purchased my items on Oct 22, and they arrived on the 29^th. Delivery was quick and reliable overall it took them only 10 days to ship the items from where they came from. They we able to provide constant updates on the package from start to finish. I got notifications for outbound shipping, in-transit shipping, and delivery as well!

This allowed me to know exactly where all of my items were at all of the time. This is impressive to me because if the items were made by a different company somehow all my items came in one package versus having several different packages on my doorstep once I got back which was nice. I don’t know if that was intentional or not, still a nice added touch. I will add that each item was just thrown into a poly bag and sent from wherever. Some of the boxes were damaged, however, nothing arrived broken so that is good news.

5. Selection

The app literally has basically any and everything thing that you could want inside of a shopping app at crazy prices. No there is not anything “name branded” on this app. Still, a replica of that item you will be able to find, purchase, and have within 2-week timeframe. The product availability in Temu is nothing short of impressive. They have fashion, electronics, jewelry, kid’s items, automotive, garden, baby, appliances, musical, industrial, and many more categories to shop from. So, they have everything available on this app/site. This app having everything offers a great diverse range of items to cater to all shopping needs of people internationally!

6. Product Description

Now here is something that is a two-sided coin for me. On one side everything is described as it should be. The words are correct, and the title and description are correct. Still, the images may mislead you to think just like many other websites that you may be getting something you are not. For instance, the photo I saw had 3 photo frames, still, it was on one frame they were selling. However, the listing, titles, and descriptions are correct, but the actual photo was slightly misleading. Maybe I should pay attention better or maybe they should just have a photo of one. Who really knows? The descriptions are detailed and comprehensive, helping me make informed decisions.

7. Payment options

They do offer multiple payment options, including various credit cards, digital wallets, and even a one-click purchase feature, making the checkout process quick and secure. That meant to me that they are a business for sure and that they will accept all forms of payment and are looking to make sure that it’s as easy as possible for you to keep making purchases repeatedly. That is what any company at the end of the day wants. So no matter your preferred payment method they will be able to get you signed up and delivered. They even have Klrna and After pay options as well!

8. Returns

Once I realized I bought only one thing when I needed more. I decided to send that one item back and then get my money back. When you go to your orders and let them know you want to send something back. They keep it simple, act for the reason why, and then ask for a photo is all really. Still, they go to another level and show how committed they are to their people by offering a one-time opportunity to get a refund and not actually send anything back!

This was crazy to me, the idea that I just made a mistake, and the company/app would cover the cost of it. So, when that happened it made me feel as though Temu was really trying to convey to their consumer that they are not just a knockoff company/app, but rather one that is here to stay. I imagine that even if you are past the “free no return” part and doing a real one it still says that “You are eligible for One free return of one or multiple items on EVERY order. So, this means is just like an Amazon-type deal if you get something and need to send it back you can send it back without hassle.

9. Customer Support

They just like many other apps/companies out there have a customer support section that allows you to chat directly to their “bot” to help bring resolution to your needs. I will say that I just clicked around a few times from a previous order and the bot was willing to just send me another of the items without question. Again, this speaks volumes about how committed they are to the customer base they have. They are willing to ensure that the customer stays pleased from start to finish. There is also something about people that we understand that when we buy something cheap, we expect the life expectancy not to be long, still knowing that we can send items back, or get a refund is something that puts a consumer’s mind at ease. All in all, for any customer/buying issues that folks would experience I imagine that Temu would be there to support anything that was reasonable for sure.

Now lets talk products.

I personally ordered for this experiment 10 items.

Some of these items were electronics, home goods, auto items, and other items. So lets talk about the quality of these items.

1.The Camera Bag

The bag cost $14.48 which is not that expensive for a bag for its size. It had a good appealing look on the outside and inside. I would venture to say that the bag will do its job for sure. It will keep camera gear inside. Keep it safe and allow you to transport it from one location to another. There are different color options this way you could add a little originality to your own bag on the inside. Still overall of the price I would say this was a good buy

2. The Wireless Earbuds – $10

These out of the entire deal were in my opinion the best buy. They have a decent build and decent quality. Still, there were a few loose parts but solid overall. Their appearance was the best part. When looking at them they just look like they belong in a show of some sort, yet only cost $10. The sound quality for me is what makes it even better. They are not any Airpods or anything like that but still. They had some solid sound quality and a great feel could be a solid pair of $10 wireless headphones for sure!

This is item is somewhere in between. It has good value, a solid build and overall looks really good. Not really cost too much but just a little over the price point that would make it that much more appealing. It has a solid set of foam inside of the panel. There is solid construction and overall does look good. So this one is a solid pick.

4. Switch Pro Controller – $20

The controller for the Switch. It’s not the same quality you would get from Nintendo, still will say. This is one of the better buys in the lot. The build quality feels nice. It’s responsive and looks comparable. Again, not the same quality but man is it close and works! So if you need a cheaper solution Temu is here to save the day!

5. Star Projector

The projector was only $5 and you can’t expect much when you pay $5. I mean it works. It lights up and the stars are on the ceiling. Now compared to the photos provided on the listing I would say that the $5 is not going to get you the same amount of “starriness” for sure. Still, it does what it says it will do.

6. Mini Swing Ball

Again this is another one of those products that are cheap and you don’t expect much from them. I did expect the kinetic energy last longer than a few seconds. Still, it was like a novelty toy that you would play with for a few days and then put it on the shelf forever.

7. The Picture Frame(s) $10

This is the only product that left a bad taste in my mouth about shopping on Temu. The listing did say that it was only 1 piece. The title even says that it’s only 1 piece. Still, there is a photo with 4 of them available and you are only delivered 1. As stated earlier, I don’t feel as though they are lying or being deceptive however, there should be some clarity brought to this when shopping online. Overall, solid build and does look like the photos on the listing. I still feel as though you could get a pack of these for a few bucks more from Walmart or somewhere and still have more value than what was provided by Temu.

8. Car Vacuum Cleaner – $14

This one for me is just an invalid of a purchase. It came as if it were a $5-9 product. It’s really small and does not work like what is displayed on the app. To me, this is one product that should either cost less or have a better description of how it will arrive. Still, again it’s expected when you buy something cheap, from what has been thought to be “too good to be true”. Buys like this are completely legit and going to happen. (Update a month later, the price has dropped to $11. So, it seems reasonable now for the purchase cost).

9.Professional Cordless Hair Clippers -$7

Now when purchasing these I knew that there was no way that a professional set of hair clippers was going to only be $7. So my expectations were not that high of course. For the amount spent and what was delivered. I was able to say this was a valid purchase. Even if used as an edger, or line maker it is a solid deal for the $7. (Update one month later its only $4 now).

10. Wall Canvas Art – $8

One of the better purchases here. Simple yet effective prints and with some added frames turn into a great wall art. These are a great price point and solid quality produced for sure.

Overall,

I would venture to say that Temu and its vendors/suppliers are solid. Of course, with having so many options and so many people to buy from. There will be some gaps in quality control of course just like any other site. Still, the Temu Shopping App offers a superior online shopping experience.
